Thank you so much for this post! I think this is a great reminder for all of us; that we can make one small change in our lives that has a big impact.

Here’s my question…what happens if you live in an older area, with much older pipes? The degrading does affect the water quality (the filters were good for cooking water, but it doesn’t actually filter out what we get from the older pipes for the constant water-drinking we do).

Superb on both films. Regarding water…(not to buy from countries far away) shipped etc, let alone the plastic. Take a look at the plastic tubes that run from your sink valves up to your sink fixtures as well…you can taste the plastic. It is a fact that bottles make up a huge area of pollution in the Oceans..that is right, plural.
As far as social media again..your thoughts are precisely accurate. This might be why organized sports teams are still a great way to socialize kids (locally). Inculcate seeking excellence in singular or group activity whatever it may be. It does not have to be social necessarily. Get kids to see the fun in not being average in the pursuit of their execution and not necessarily the result of any particular endeavor. They do not have to win they just have to sculpt well as it were, and later they will win, if that is what they want. Like Gestalt. Teach shape, form, vision, to see and perhaps then to know.
Locally..this is the word, I think this is a good way to think about everything, locally at where I stand now, the present. Social media as it were could be anywhere and nowhere. Whereas a scheduled day, and or, event. or activity, is Local, present, and requires attention away from electronic devices.
Teach the fun of using ones own mind, words and the excellence that follows, but the richness one derives from a feeling of having done something well. The greatest of course would be the time honored and deeply respected, reading. Teach the beauty that will never pass from the great travels one takes while reading. In many ways superior to a Jet.
There is also the beauty in a well hit golf ball, from a hard earned effortless swing. Hopefully the feeling that a child derives from minute accomplishments will supersede the diversion to default to electronic stimulus that is for the most part meaningless in that is it not actually social, in fact it is mostly synthetic. Institute concrete daily reality.
Seek to do some-thing well, it does not matter what it is. Seattle Mama Doc is quite sensational.
